Trend Micro acquires advanced persistent threat Defender Broadweb

Trend Micro has acquired Broadweb in order to better protect networks against threats specific and advanced in the modern cybercrime landscape.


The security company, announced on Thursday, said the purchase of the Taiwanese Broadcom Advanced network security solutions provider to improve the defenses of the network offered to companies around the world.


Broadweb attraction lies within its technology of deep packet inspection and its ability to block malicious data packets in real time. Trend Micro plans to use this technology to improve your custom software defense solution, which includes all the network visibility and protection against attacks and sophisticated advanced threats.


Founded in 1999, Broadweb with more than 1 million active users and has received the NSS Labs and certification from ICSA Labs prevention system for intrusion.


Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.


"As attacks evolve, conventional network security isn't enough to protect digitized data, intellectual property and communications," said Kevin Simzer, senior Vice President of marketing and business development at Trend Micro.
