How to test if we remember your MacBook Air SSD

Summary: Patch from Apple for 2012 and 2013 MacBook Airs software will test the hard drive to see if it is affected by a failure of loss of data, that solves the problem, or will help you to get it replaced.

Apple released MacBook Air Flash storage update 1.1 firmware for certain MacBook Airs to address an issue that may result in the loss of data in "a small percentage" of 64GB and 128 GB SSD. According to Apple, most units will receive a firmware update, but others are being directed to bring their SSD for replacement.

It seems that the defective SSDs are limited to MacBook Airs came last year and they are not present in the current generation MBAs (mid-2013 or Haswell).

If you're not sure what is the MacBook Air model has, do this:

Click the Apple menu in the upper left part of the care menu in about this MacClick in the more info... Post button at the bottom of the same name of model of dialogue are listed at the top of the overview of the implementation of the system information panel

Software Firmware Update 1.1 test your SSD and, in most cases, installs the new firmware to solve the problem. If your drive cannot be updated, will Apple replace it, free of charge. Details of the MacBook Air Flash Storage Drive replacement program are available on the website of Apple.

Apple has determined that certain units of 64GB and 128GB flash storage used in the previous generation of MacBook Air systems can fail. These systems were sold between June 2012 until June 2013.

If you are owner of a MacBook Air 2012 or 2013 you can see if your SSD is affected following these steps
