Hat tip to Netcraft for reporting that a SSL certificate for barackobama.com and *. barackobama.com has expired.
barackobama.com is the web site of political campaign for President. He is currently registered and used by the Organization for action, an organization nonprofit that promotes the President's agenda.
The certificate was issued by GoDaddy in September 2012 for a year. As shown in the following error message, best practices State that sites with expired certificates are not generally reliable.
Expired by barackobama.com and as a wildcard certificate issued to *. barackobama.com, but is not the only certificate on the site. A Comodo certificate to http://www.barackobama.com/ shall expire at the end of October 2013.
Netcraft also points out that various government certificates have expired, ui.tn.gov for example and with the closure of the Government which can remain expired for some time. Other sites are worse: http://www.nasa.gov/ now redirects to notice.usa.gov.
