Amazon challenges PayPal with the option of one-click 'Start of session and pay'

 

Amazon is firing on all cylinders today in their efforts to attract third-party more to their ecosystem.


Along with a new program of developer filled to the brim with incentives for manufacturers of fire OS applications optimized, the Seattle-based operation has introduced one - click 'Login and pay' novelty designed for retailers online of third parties.


Basically, out of Amazon.com online retailers can install buttons "Start of session and pay with Amazon" in their payment pages through a set of widgets and APIs created by Amazon. The feature is supported desktop and mobile channels.


Immediately following the launch on Tuesday, the new e-commerce function provoked comparisons with a similar offer from PayPal.


However, this feature makes little sense given Amazon from your domain in the online retail space and capabilities of cloud to support an infrastructure linking companies from third parties based on Amazon customer profile.


According to Tom Taylor, Vice President of Amazon Payments Unit, Amazon has more than 215 million active customer accounts.


From the client side, the advantage is to be able to pay almost instantly with all of the billing and shipping of data being filled by Amazon.


Amazon in the announcement on Tuesday that does not "share" information of credit card, and of all purchases still are covered by warranties of purchase as if they were shopping directly at Amazon.com.


On the commercial side, Amazon is promising fraud protection including free - or at least in what is touted as the prices decline in payment services: 2.9 percent plus 30 cents per transaction, or less. It is at the height of the level of PayPal input price ladder.
